2015 QWOCFF - New Volunteer Application
This form is for volunteers who are NEW to working with us.

WE really NEED volunteers who:

• sign/speak ASL
• know CPR
• are NURSES
• are familiar with FOOD SERVICE
• have CHILDCARE experience

and we LOVE all volunteers!

To clarify about ASL signing:

ALL films are open captioned/subtitled for the Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing.

We are HIRING professional ASL interpreters for all events, including all opening remarks, post-screening talks/filmmaker Q&As, and Community Conversations, they are also on hand for other events and will be available for any and all interpreting needs.

However, we need ASL signing volunteers, just like we need Spanish speaking volunteers. It helps to end social isolation if all other stations have at least 1 person who is available just to talk, not to professionally interpret.

ALL volunteers are required to attend a MANDATORY volunteer orientation session.

May 31st
10am to 1pm
Brava Theater Center
2789 24th Street

Accessible to 24th Street BART, #14 Mission, #48 Quintara, #27 Bryant

This session gives you the chance to meet our Festival Team members and the rest of your Crew.

You'll walk away with an understanding of our QWOCMAP Working Agreements, how to create the QWOCMAP experience, and learning to create disability access. This session will allow you to serve on any Crew in a public position during our Film Festival.

The community you see at this meeting is a mini-version of the Film Festival, it's full of energy, excitement, and team building.

So don't miss it!!
Can you attend the Mandatory volunteer orientation? *
If you cannot attend this meeting, then we can only schedule you for non-public tasks.
No, sorry but I'm willing to help in other ways.
Volunteers represent QWOCMAP values around disability justice. We ask that you be willing to commit to the following:

1) Being SCENT-FREE.

2) Ending isolation for Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing community members by following communication practices.

3) Working to create equity and access for members of the disability community by following QWOCMAP Policies & Procedures.

Can you commit to disability justice and be responsible for your own learning around it? *
YES!  Of course, I believe in justice and I'm willing to learn.
Not willing to do this.  I will learn more on my own and volunteer another time.
